Team Pizza Night – January 4, 2008

Join Bogastow coaches, skiers and their families to kick of the season with a night of pizza, fitness challenges, ski tuning and fun! We hold this annual event on the Friday before the first race. Location to be announced

Piche Qualifier – February 10, 2008 at Bradford

The Piche Qualifier is a race that offers an opportunity for our strongest racers to compete against skiers from the other EMBWL teams and racers from the Tri-State (USSA) organization. The three age groups included in this race are J5, J4, and J3, both boys and girls. Two skiers from each age group will be selected to race in the Piche Qualifier. The Piche Qualifier is held at Bradford Ski Area, and is usually held on the second Sunday in February. The top six finishers in each age group then qualify to represent Massachusetts in the Francis Piche Invitational at Gunstock in Gilford, NH. This is a two-day event (Friday and Saturday), and usually takes place the second week in March.

In order to race in the Piche Qualifier and the Piche Invitational, you must be a member of USSA. Skiers competing in the Piche should register here.

Kathy Bartolini Invitational (Trophy) Race– February 10, 2008 at Ski Ward

The Trophy Race takes place on Sunday morning of the same weekend as the Piche Qualifier and is intended for all EMBWL racers not participating in the Piche Qualifier. This race is held at Ski Ward or Nashoba Valley, and is open to all age classes. This race counts towards the minimum number of races required in order to be eligible for the Championship Race.

Championship Race – March 2, 2008 at Ski Ward

The EMBWL holds a championship race at the end of the season. This race includes all the teams in the league. To qualify, a racer must ski in at least 3 regular season races. The top 10 finishers in each age group will receive awards, and all J6’s receive participation ribbons. The championship race is usually held the last Sunday in February or the first Sunday in March. A trophy for the team with the winning score for the day is awarded. This has nothing to do with how many points the team has accumulated over the season. A separate award is given based on season standings. A team barbeque is held during this fun event

Championship Race Barbecue

At our last race, the EMBWL Championships, each team puts on a barbecue for its members and their families. Volunteers will help with planning and set-up.

Annual Banquet

Our annual banquet, held at the end of the season for racers and their families, is a wonderful time to celebrate our team. Each racer who has competed in at least three of the six regular season races receives a trophy and is recognized for their accomplishments. We look for volunteers to help us coordinate this event.
